TAMPA — Juan and Marcela Angarita started Global Beauty Image Inc. in their garage four years ago.
The couple’s company had $20,000 in revenue the first year.
Today, the garage is used as a warehouse for Global Beauty Image. The company is leasing a building on Waters Avenue with offices and classrooms for teaching their clients.
Annual revenue has climbed to $700,000 this year. The company grew from four to 14 employees.
Global Beauty Image’s road to growth and success started with a relationship with the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida.
“Oh, they’ve helped us with so much,” Angarita said. “We have workers, but we need direction and business tools. They give you these.”
HBIF is a Hispanic nonprofit economic development corporation that supports Hispanic entrepreneurs starting or expanding their businesses. Its executive committee and directors include lawyers, bankers, professional sports organizations, government officials, educators and large, successful corporations.
The nonprofit’s programs reflect the increasing economic impact of Hispanic-owned businesses and the Hispanic population. Twenty percent of all businesses in Florida are Hispanic-owned.
